Forestry mulching in Greater Cincinnati

One machine cuts brush, vines and small trees and grinds them into mulch right where they stand. The trees you want stay up, and there’s nothing to pile, burn or haul.

Great for

  • Overgrown acreage
  • Selective clearing
  • Hillsides & slopes

How forestry mulching works

We run a compact track loader with a forestry mulching head on the front. The head is a spinning drum with cutting teeth. It takes down brush, briars, vines and small trees, then chews them up and leaves the chips on the ground.

Because cutting and grinding happen in one pass, there’s no second crew following behind to load trucks, and no pile sitting at the back of your property waiting for a burn day. When we leave, the clearing is done.

Why people choose it over a dozer

A dozer pushes everything into a pile and scrapes the topsoil along with it. That’s the right tool for some jobs, but it leaves bare dirt that can wash away and a pile you still have to deal with.

Mulching keeps the ground covered. The roots stay in the soil and the mulch layer protects it from rain, which matters on slopes. It also lets us work around the trees you want to keep, so you can thin out a wooded lot instead of flattening it.

We believe in being good stewards of the land and leaving it better than we found it. Forestry mulching is the way we do that on most jobs.

What it handles, and what it doesn’t

Mulching is at its best on brush, honeysuckle, briars, vines, saplings and small trees. It works on overgrown acreage, wooded lots and many hillsides where other equipment would tear up the ground.

Stumps get ground down to about ground level, not dug out. If you need a surface ready for a foundation or a finished grade, that’s extra work, and we’ll quote it separately. Bigger trees take more machine time, so point them out when we talk.

What your land looks like afterward

You’ll see open ground covered in a layer of wood mulch, with your keeper trees still standing. You can walk it, see your property lines and finally see what you own.

The mulch breaks down over time and feeds the soil. Brush will try to come back, because the roots are still there. Regular mowing or a planned follow-up keeps it from taking over again, and we’ll talk through what makes sense for your ground.

How a job runs

Text us a few photos or a short video, or we’ll come walk it with you. We’ll agree on what stays and what goes, then give you a price. Every job starts at $2,500, which covers one full crew day, and we don’t schedule half days. When we finish, we send you photos.

Common questions

Will the mulch kill my grass or trees?

Your standing trees are fine as long as the mulch isn’t piled against their trunks. Grass under the mulch layer will take time to come back, and thinner mulch means faster regrowth.

Can you mulch on a slope?

Often, yes. Steep ground is slower and some slopes aren’t safe for the machine, so we look at it first and tell you straight.

How much can you clear in a day?

It depends on how thick the brush is, the size of the trees, the terrain and how close we can park the trailer. Send photos and we’ll give you an honest estimate.
